Family Centered Care
Whole Child Initiative
The child care health consultation is a Whole Child Initiative (WCI) within a Community- Informed Model category with comprehensive socio-cultural practices as its base and will leverage best practices developed through a pilot project called Partners in Community Health Project. PCHP provides culturally relevant information for the Somali community on physical activity and nutrition.
Somali Centering Motherhood Program
Somali Centering Motherhood Project (SCMP) is a culturally responsive prenatal to five home-based program that adapts evidence-based programs, Centering Pregnancy, and Centering Parenting. The project is currently in the planning phase and will enter implementation in June 2019.
The aim of this project is to:
- Engage, serve, and improve health outcomes for Somali mothers, babies, and children up to age five in King County, Washington;
- Promote healthy lifestyles, encourage early prenatal care, educate families on their right to care, and integrate both physical and mental health; and
- Build a social support system and fostering a sense of community.
