Systems & Policy
King County is commonly viewed as a region whose residents enjoy universal prosperity and a high quality of life. However, in reality, rising income inequality, poverty and gentrification has significantly impacted the health and wellbeing of communities of color and limited English proficiency (LEP) communities. One of the greatest challenges is lack of access to decision-making bodies and lack of meaningful representation once accessed. This reinforces systemic oppression and feeds the issues mentioned.
Civic Engagement / Systems Change
SHB seeks to identify strategies in partnership with the systems that will change the way our systems operate in order to encourage more accountability and inclusive representative of the communities those systems intend to serve.
